Gigi Barrett 1st Place
The Stamford Art Association is pleased to present the "21st Annual Vivian and Stanley Reed Marine Show". 50 pieces of work have been selected to celebrate the Stamford Art Association's 50th year. Artists are presenting their depictions of the sea, seashore, boats, and activities on or near the water. The artists have been chosen by Capitan Michael Bagley, Vice President of Programs at SoundWaters, Stamford, CT. A video by the winners and the juror is on the website also.
Although primarily a portrait artist, I have recently had an obsession with nature expressing my voice in pencil, charcoal, water, oil, acrylic, and most recently pastel. The beauty of Connecticut has expanded my focus from solely portraits to include landscapes, seascapes and local wildlife.
My professional experience began by freelance consulting to various individuals, groups and local non profit organizations in Bushwick, Brooklyn. In the 1990’s I taught various classes in drawing and water color through New York State Council on the Arts programs and have received both local and national awards for my work. Since moving to Stamford most of my work has been individually commissioned and specialize in original, custom artwork in all sizes and media.
Frequently works and proceeds are donated to local non profit organizations including Beech Brook Equine Rescue, Catholic Charities and Farm Sanctuary.
